The First Carbon Core Principles (ICVCM) Cookstove Project in the World: GS12069.
We received the certification according to the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) by Gold Standard of our ARBORIFY COOKSTOVES TOGO project (GS12069), also receiving 8 UN Social Development goals (1,2,5,7,13,15) labels.
Our fantastic team in Togo, led by Cristina, Leonardo and Christopher has produced locally and distributed so far 80,000 cookstoves, reaching 400,000 people and saving them USD 20,000,000 per year, in addition to generating the highest quality carbon credits available in the world: the first cookstove project to comply with the new CCP issued by the Integrity Council for Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM). We are very also grateful to our co-investors: ClimeCo.
In order to pass the exacting tests ensuring additionality, integrity, robust validation, robust quantification and governance we only certified 0,3 Verified Emission Reduction per cookstove: one of the lowest in the world, in spite of the fact that the volume of actual carbon dioxide avoided is likely to be a multiple of that.
This implies that the income generating capacity of the project has been affected to ensure undisputable quality, according to multiple, latest standards. We wanted to give our contribution to shutting up the detractors of the carbon market and those media that are always pointing at the flaws of some carbon projects and never mention the huge developmental and climate impact that most projects bring.
We hope that corporations will feel safer buying our carbon credits and feel proud of what they are doing, helping the world and the climate, instead of waiting on the sidelines or indulging in the so-called practice of “greenhushing”.
Please corporate leaders, be prepared to pay a higher price for these higher integrity credits to ensure we have enough resources to keep the project going and to expand it.
Climate contribution means paying a bit more for higher quality carbon reduction.
